There's only so many fun things you can do outside during the winter, but today I found something that I never knew was available in the Twin Cities.
Sure, there's cool things to do indoors year round. We've discussed outdoor winter activities like ice skating (both outdoors and indoors), snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding. But have you ever played golf outside during the winter months?
Occasionally in the Twin Cities, you may hear about golf tournaments in winter in which entrants hit a ball around a frozen lake or what not. But at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, you can play snow golf all winter long.
This could well be the cheapest round of golf in the Twin Cities. You pay $5 and you get a ball, a club, and a round of golf. There are concessions on site if you need a cup of hot cocoa to warm up, but that's extra. It's still super cheap. Snow golf is played with a club and a tennis ball, and the holes are 6 inches in diameter. The course is set up behind the clubhouse and most holes are under 100 yards. It takes an hour or less to play 9 holes.
And even if snow golf doesn't float your boat, Majestic Oaks has Boot Hockey leagues. You can download the registration form on the website.
