Day 240: St. Paul Winter Farmers' Market

Farmers' Markets are neat. Not only can you support local farmers and buy organic, natural products, but you can also enjoy fresh air and fresh food in an (mostly) outdoor setting.

I say "mostly" because some of the business is conducted indoors, particularly in winter. In the Twin Cities, we're lucky enough to have a great winter farmers' market in the St. Paul Winter Farmers' Market. Conducted, much like its summer counterpart, in Lowertown St. Paul, the market has all kinds of goods for the discerning shopper.

You will find a large variety of items at the market. Get fresh meat products (chicken, pork, beef, turkey, lamb, trout, etc),eggs, bakery, cheeses, pasta, salsa, chocolates, mushrooms, apples (through December) flavored popcorns, energy bars, pickles, jams & jellies, honey, hot sauce and more.

The winter version of the always popular St. Paul Farmer's Market includes meat and farm fresh eggs outside. Cheese, honey, salsa, baked goods, jams, pickles, apples, baby food and bagel sandwiches can be found inside at Golden's Deli.

The winter market runs from 9am to 1pm Saturdays through the end of April. This kid-friendly activity is free and open to the public, but of course, you'll want to bring money to buy goods and support your local growers.

The St. Paul Winter Farmers' Market is located at 290 E 5th Street in St. Paul.
