The season for the downtown St. Paul Farmers' Market opened last weekend, Saturday, April 24 and continues this weekend. The downtown location is open Saturdays and Sundays, and is open in various other locations throughout the week.
The Farmers' Market is a great way to support local farmers, ranchers, growers, and gardeners offering chemical-free, healthy, naturally-raised, and in many cases, organic goods. This weekends offerings include asparagus, spinach, radishes, rhubarb, as well as greenhouse tomatoes and peppers. There's also bedding plants, hanging baskets, chicken, pork, beef, trout, cheeses, eggs, honey, chocolates, pasta, salsa, bakery goods, bagel sandwiches, soap, and more. They even have gelatto, which is new this year.
Contract parking is available in the area, and pay lots and parking ramps abound as well. Several Metro Transit bus routes stop nearby if you don't want to deal with parking.
There are coupon books available for $2, with over $100 worth of savings at The Farmers' Market. The coupons are good until the end of May so if you're interested in these savings, get on it.
