Day 30: Living Green Expo

The Twin Cities are being recognized more and more as a "green" metropolitan area, that is, an eco-friendly, environmentally-conscious metropolis. The Minneapolis/St. Paul area keeps popping up on top green cities lists, and according to Bicycling magazine, Minneapolis recently edged out Portland, OR as the most bike-friendly city in the U.S.

So what does that mean? The Twin Cities have done a lot to encourage people to ditch their cars and hop on their bikes by providing bike lanes on streets, bike paths along the rivers, in parks, and through neighborhoods.

Another way the Twin Cities are striving to be green is by teaching others how live green. This weekend, The Living Green Expo at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds will host a large gathering of people inspiring others how to live healthier and more sustainable lives. There will be over 250 exhibits, demonstrations and seminars, as well as kids' activities and local food.

There will be learning forums on Green Energy Building and Transportation, Outdoor Living and Recreation, Healthy Products and Practices, Cooking Demos and Local Foods, and Eco-Art and Sustainable Education.

The expo will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. This event is free and open to the public.
