Day 320: Cocktails With Creatives

In today's economy, it's more important than ever for job seekers to stand apart from the crowd. One way to distinguish yourself from others in your field is to rub elbows with other people in your field. Maybe the first 20 people you meet won't be able to help, but what if the 21st person you introduced yourself to knew a guy who knows an art director who happens to be looking for someone with your specific talents?

Cocktails with Creatives offers a chance for anyone in a creative field--such as graphic design, illustration, web development, prepress, printing, writing or photography--a chance to meet and have a drink and a snack with other like-minded people.

The first Thursday of each month, Cocktails With Creatives hits a different venue somewhere in the Twin Cities, and this Thursday, April 7th, the event will be at the American Swedish Institute from 6 to 8pm. The works of artist Jesper Löfvenborg will be on display.

Whether you're in the market for a job or not, it's never a bad idea to hobnob with others in your field, exchange websites and digits, and talk shop a bit.

Each month AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Artists) Minnesota hosts Cocktails with Creatives, a mixer event at various locations around the Twin Cities. This event is a great networking and social opportunity so bring your business cards and your ideas.
